Dechert LLP, a global specialist law firm, has been recognized by The American Lawyer’s Global Legal Awards for cross-border excellence on three separate matters, each of which is now eligible for a grand prize in its respective category that will be awarded this fall.

“We are extremely proud of these awards, which recognize the innovative and cutting edge legal work we undertake on behalf of all of our clients,” said Dechert Chief Executive Officer Daniel O’Donnell.

Dechert’s long and ongoing representation of NML Capital (an affiliate of Elliott Management) in its dispute with Argentina – a matter in which NML recently obtained two very favorable results in the U.S. Supreme Court – won the Litigation Global Dispute of the Year, U.S. Litigation subcategory and is now a finalist for Litigation Global Dispute of the Year. This deal was the first Chapter 11 restructuring of a Middle Eastern financial institution which also involved a concurrent provisional liquidation in the Cayman Islands which not only involved US bankruptcy law, but UK law, Cayman Islands law, and Shari’ah law. Brian Greer led the team representing Standard Chartered Bank with significant contributions by Michael Sage. Also working on this matter were partners Antony Dutton and Wayne Rapozo and associate Javad Husein.
