William A. Rosoff has extensive experience representing a wide variety of clients in different industries in both commercial and tax areas. These include mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other complex corporate transactions. The representations involve both public and large privately held companies operating domestically and internationally, as well as estates, trusts, individual entrepreneurs, and investors. Examples of the industries include financial services, real estate, venture capital, manufacturing and beverage distribution.
Prior to joining Dechert, Mr. Rosoff was President and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Advanta Corp., a public company which most recently was one of the largest issuers of credit cards to small businesses in the United States. He was also a long time leader of a large law firm where he served, at different times, as Chairman of the Executive Committee and Chairman of the Tax Department. He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America and a variety of Who’s Who publications, including Who’s Who in the World.
Mr. Rosoff has been a frequent speaker on tax issues, having given presentations at the National Office of the Internal Revenue Service and Harvard Law School, among others. He also served as an advisor to the U.S. Treasury Department, and as a tax advisory board member for a number of institutions, including Commerce Clearing House and Tax Analysts. He also had a leading role in the American Law Institute’s Proposals on Partnership Taxation.
