Anne Marie Whitesell

Before joining Dechert, Anne Marie Whitesell was Secretary General of the ICC International Court of Arbitration from 2001 to 2007. Ms. Whitesell supervised approximately 1,100 international arbitration cases each year involving parties from more than 120 countries. She also worked closely with the 126 members of the International Court of Arbitration, who hail from 88 different countries, and contributed to the institution's profile and reputation around the world.

She has practised with law firms in both the United States and France and was a lecturer at the Université de Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonne and the Institut de Droit Comparé (Université de Paris II).

Ms. Whitesell is based in the Washington, DC office, but works closely with the Paris office. She is admitted to the New York State Bar, the District of Columbia Bar and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.

Ms. Whitesell is listed in International Arbitration as Notable Practitioner in Chambers USA 2011. She is also listed in Commercial Arbitration by Who’s Who Legal 2011 and recommended as a National International Arbitration Litigation Star by Benchmark Litigation 2011. In 2012, Ms. Whitesell was named one of Benchmark Litigation’s Top 250 Female Litigators in America.
