Experience and Background
Andrew R.C. Gaddes has represented clients in numerous product liability, mass tort, and consumer fraud cases pending in multiple states and involving a variety of products. He has been recognized by his peers in the 2007-2010 editions of Best Lawyers in America for product liability litigation.

Mr. Gaddes has represented pharmaceutical companies in some of the most important mass tort litigation in the United States. He served as trial counsel for Wyeth in diet drug trials in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. He has also represented Baxter Healthcare in the blood products litigation, Merck in the Vioxx litigation, AstraZeneca in the Seroquel litigation, and now Johnson & Johnson in the Tylenol litigation. Outside the pharmaceutical context, Mr. Gaddes is presently trial counsel for Philip Morris in defending the personal injury claims of hundreds of smokers in West Virginia, and has represented Philip Morris in numerous class actions and individual cases, including the successful trial and retrial of the medical monitoring claims of 250,000 smokers. He has defended his clients' interests over a wide range of products and in all aspects of mass litigation, from successfully challenging class certification and consolidated trials, through summary judgment, trial, arbitration, and appeal.

Mr. Gaddes serves on the advisory board for the "Product Liability Law 360" publication and is a regular speaker at conferences and legal education seminars. Some of his presentations have included: Medical Monitoring: A Dangerous Road to Unlimited Liability; Taking Class Actions to Trial; An Introduction to Mass Torts; Medical Monitoring and Future Injury Claims in Mass Torts; Foregoing Settlement and Taking Class Actions to Trial: Navigating Uncharted Waters; Justice Roberts: Two Years on the Supreme Court; Emerging Threats for Products Manufacturers; Products Liability: A Year in Review; Human Trafficking; and Federal Preemption: Latest Developments and their Implications.

Mr. Gaddes has an active pro bono practice, with a particular interest in the field of international human rights. He is also hiring partner for Dechert's Philadelphia office.
