Experience and Background
Lewis A. Burleigh primarily represents institutional lenders and other significant investors such as investment banks and REITs in a wide variety of private placement transactions on a nationwide basis. With a specialty in net leases, he has negotiated, documented, and closed more than 1,000 lease financings involving more than 5,000 properties and many billions of dollars.

Mr. Burleigh represented the underwriters in a $1.25 billion credit lease financing of more than 300 commercial properties located in 28 states; represented U.S. and offshore institutional investors in sovereign-backed loans in Caribbean countries; represented a panel of lenders into a pool of 13 separate financings in the novation of more than $250 million of residual value insurance policies securing balloon payments; and represented a group of lenders whose security was created by condominiumizing a New York headquarters office building and obtaining a bond-type lease of one condo unit. A recognized authority on private financing, he has lectured on all aspects of the topic, ranging from detailed analyses of financial covenants to broad scope discussions of the state of the financial markets and the likely impact of accounting changes.

Professional Activities
Mr. Burleigh is a fellow of the American College of Investment Counsel and a member of the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys and the American Society of International Law. He is also on the board of directors of the Boston Public Library Foundation.
