Steven G. Bradbury Joins Dechert LLP
July 13, 2009

Dechert LLP announced today that Steven G. Bradbury has joined the firm as a partner based in the Washington, D.C. office. Bradbury, formerly a partner with Kirkland & Ellis LLP, served as Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General and was Acting Assistant Attorney General for the U.S. Department of Justice.

"Steve is an extraordinarily talented litigator who in his 20-year career has been involved in some of the most significant litigation in his field," said Barton J. Winokur, Chairman of Dechert. "He is a valuable addition to our antitrust and trial practices and we are pleased that he has chosen to join us."

Bradbury, a trial and appellate lawyer, specializes in antitrust and securities litigation. He defended Morgan Stanley in class action securities and antitrust suits relating to the allocation of shares in IPOs, and in SEC and NASD investigations of IPO allocations practices. He represented Verizon, GTE, and Bell Atlantic in mergers and other antitrust matters, as well as in regulatory and trade practices cases; and he represented AOL and United Air Lines in merger cases. His appellate work includes representing Meineke in a successful appeal of a $400 million damages award in a class action brought by franchisees, and National Football League players before the Supreme Court of the United States in a case involving the non-statutory labor exemption to the antitrust laws - Brown v. Pro Football, Inc., 518 U.S. 231.

"I am enormously impressed with the intelligence, energy, and enthusiasm of the Dechert lawyers," said Bradbury. "I am excited to be joining such a dynamic firm."

While at the Justice Department, Bradbury received the Edmund J. Randolph Award for outstanding service to the Department of Justice, the Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service, the National Security Agency's Intelligence Under Law Award, the Director of National Intelligence's 2007 Intelligence Community Legal Award (Team of the Year, FISA Modernization), and the Criminal Division's Award for Outstanding Law Enforcement Partnerships.

Bradbury joined Kirkland & Ellis in 1993 following his clerkship on the Supreme Court of the United States. He also clerked on the U. S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, and was an associate with Covington & Burling LLP.

He is a graduate of Stanford University (1980) and the University of Michigan Law School (1988, magna cum laude, Order of the Coif), where he was the Article Editor of the Michigan Law Review.

Dechert LLP has 900 lawyers in 19 offices in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
