Paul M. McAleer

Paul M. McAleer focuses his practice on global finance matters. His experience includes representing commercial finance and structured finance clients in loan originations and capital market transactions. His work with real estate related assets includes loan purchases, loan origination, mezzanine financing, financing commercial properties and negotiating repurchase facilities for real-estate related assets. Mr. McAleer has experience in representing parties in whole loan mortgage transactions and the origination of loans secured by single family rental properties.

Prior to rejoining Dechert in 2012, Mr. McAleer served as an associate in the corporate and securities practice of a U.S. firm where he worked on banking and corporate finance transactions, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance matters.

  • Represented a life insurance company in connection with the origination of a US$192 million construction-to-permanent financing related to a mixed-use residential and retail building in northern New Jersey.
  • Represented an owner and operator of shopping malls in the assumption and restructuring of loans totaling over US$440 million.
  • Represented a U.S. bank syndicate in connection with the origination of mortgage and mezzanine loans aggregating US$320 million secured by hotels located in New York City.
  • Represented a U.S. bank in connection with the sale of US$1.7 billion in non-performing and re-performing residential mortgage loans.
  • Represented a global asset management firm in the development of a US$415 million residential mortgage loan origination and purchase facility with a U.S. bank.
  • Represented a private investment firm in the negotiation of over US$2.3 billion in mortgage loan repurchase facilities with several U.S. banking institutions.
