Tom Renwick advises clients on corporate and commercial matters, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions and private equity.

Mr. Renwick has acted on major regional and cross-border transactions for both local and international clients and has particular experience in the oil and gas, hospitality and financial institutions sectors. In addition, Mr. Renwick is experienced in handling international capital markets matters, such as acting for Depa Limited on its United Arab Emirates/London dual listing as well as several regional primary and secondary offerings.

Prior to joining Dechert, Mr. Renwick was an associate in the Dubai office of an international law firm.

  • The Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority on its disposal of certain major assets in the Caucasus*
  • A Malaysian client in relation to its proposed acquisition of Middle Eastern gas assets*
  • Qatar National Hotels Company on its acquisition of 37.8% of the 'Buddha Bar' business through the purchase of shares in George V Eatertainment SA and Creative Design FZ-LLC and the reciprocal investment by the sellers in Qatar National Hotels Company's property holding subsidiary, QNH Buddha Bar Properties FZ-LLC*
  • A regional client in its auction bid for the share capital of a Turkish oil and gas concession owing company

  • The owners of Al Habtoor Engineering on their disposal of a 45% stake to Gulf Leighton Holdings for share and cash consideration. This was the largest ever private sector acquisition in the UAE at the time with Al Habtoor Engineering being valued at AED7 billion*

  • ABN Amro on its Omani security package associated with its lending to a major Russian client*

  • Emirates NBD Bank on its AED707 million financing for Abraaj Capital SPVs in relation to the disposal of a 49% stake in Network International*
