International law firm Dechert LLP announced today that Aisha Hunt has joined the firm’s San Francisco office as a partner in the Financial Services practice. Hunt was most recently with Cole-Frieman Mallon & Hunt LLP, where she headed the ‘40 Act Practice with a focus on alternative mutual funds.
“Aisha is a wonderful addition to our team and provides significant support in the growing area of alternative fund products,” said Joseph R. Fleming, a deputy chairman of the firm and co-chair of the Financial Services practice. “She will be a tremendous asset for our team and brings considerable experience to the group.”
Hunt advises investment managers and registered funds on complex investment management issues, including new product initiatives and risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
“Joining Dechert at this time presents a unique and exciting opportunity for me,” Hunt said. “The firm’s diverse and global financial services team is an established leader and provides me with a tremendous platform. The clients I serve will benefit greatly from the firm’s considerable resources committed to all aspects of asset management.”
Hunt has extensive experience handling legal issues arising under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and other federal securities laws. She handles regulatory and compliance matters including: the organization and registration of new funds (traditional and alternative mutual funds, closed-end funds and other pooled investment vehicles); exemptive applications and no-action requests; SEC examinations; and matters relating to investment advisory, brokerage, custody and transfer agent services. She is also experienced in structuring and forming UCITS funds and advising on cross-border registrations and private placements in the United States, European Union, Asia and Latin America.
She was previously Senior Counsel at Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. and Vice President of Wells Fargo Funds Management, LLC and also served as Associate General Counsel at Dodge & Cox, one of the oldest independent investment management firms in the United States.
“Aisha has established herself as a leading investment management lawyer not only in Northern California, but also in the national practice,” said Robert W. Helm, a deputy chairman of the firm and co-chair of the Financial Services practice. “We have known Aisha professionally for many years and are delighted that she has chosen to join us in San Francisco.”
