Kathleen Fay focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation with an emphasis on product liability and mass torts.

Ms. Fay also maintains an active pro bono practice, including most recently, researching states’ Public Records Acts and obtaining police use of force data for a public interest group to analyze and create a national public database. She is a recipient of the firm’s Sam Klein Pro Bono Award (2022). Ms. Fay is a regular contributor to the privacy & cybersecurity practice group’s Cyber Bits publication and the product liability and mass torts group's newsletter, Dechert Re:Torts.

Prior to joining Dechert, Ms. Fay counseled clients on some of the first consumer privacy actions as an associate at a New York law firm. She provided guidance on advertising, labeling and data privacy compliance as a staff attorney at an agency of the Better Business Bureau. Ms. Fay taught information technology and privacy law courses as an adjunct professor for several years at MBA and graduate masters programs in New York and New Jersey, including at the Stevens Institute of Technology.
