Jay R. Alicandri negotiates and structures leveraged finance transactions for borrowers, lenders, and fund sponsors. Mr. Alicandri advises clients on all capital structure layers, including senior credit facilities, first lien/second lien financings, subordinated/mezzanine debt, structured equity, recapitalizations and workouts/restructurings. He provides comprehensive, practical and business-oriented advice.

Mr. Alicandri has been recognized as one of Law360’s Rising Stars of 2013, a national list of attorneys under the age of 40 whose legal accomplishments belie their age. Mr. Alicandri was one of only five lawyers under the age of 40 recognized for his work in the Banking area. He has been listed as a leading lawyer in The Legal 500 (U.S.), where he is recognized for being “a very facile leveraged finance lawyer who is appreciated by clients for his ‘outstanding work ethic and strong command of legal as well as business facts.’” He was also selected as one of the finalists for the 2012 40 Under 40 East M&A Advisor Recognition Awards.

Mr. Alicandri regularly represents BDCs, leading lenders to BDCs and other permanent capital vehicles. Recent examples of his representation of BDCs include advising FS Investment Corporation, Corporate Capital Trust, THL Credit Inc., Medley Capital Corporation, Sierra Income Corporation, Pennant Park Investment Corporation, Credit Suisse Corporate Credit Solutions, LLC, MCG Capital Corporation and Goldman Sachs BDC, Inc. He has represented ING Capital LLC as lender in a number of BDC financing matters, including financings to Alcentra Capital Corporation, Monroe Capital Corporation, Fidus Investment Corporation and Capitala Finance Corp. He also represents other alternative asset managers, including THL, KKR, Guggenheim, Crescent, Goldman, and Franklin Square.

Mr. Alicandri also represents a number of middle market lenders in a broad range of financings to middle market companies. Examples include representing Ares Capital Corporation, Fifth Street Finance Corp., Medley Capital, Golub Capital, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, MCG Capital Corporation, Voya Investment Management, Main Street Capital Corporation and Garrison Investment Group. In addition, Mr. Alicandri represents private equity sponsors in financings to their portfolio companies. Examples of some of the sponsors include Quilvest Private Equity, Centre Partners Management, Bregal Partners and Versa Capital Management.
