In this introduction to providing community-based, pro bono legal assistance to poor communities, we will use the framework of an innovative, volunteer project, the Medical-Legal-Community Partnership (MLCP) to introduce you to some of the practical and substantive tools necessary to serve pro bono clients more effectively. The training will cover client interviewing skills, trauma-informed lawyering, and awareness of how the social stresses of being poor affect low-income clients.
