Green Bonds: Trends & Updates in 2017
Green bonds, issued to finance environmentally friendly projects, are increasing in demand and number. Issuances reached a record high of US$93.4 billion in 2016 and are expected to crest over US$200 billion in 2017. Despite the allure of their ecological benefits, the financial viability of these bonds defy traditional market terms and must be measured by other ratings principles and methodologies. Likewise, while demand for these bonds is high, the standards for greenness vary widely, particularly with governments like China leading the market.
In this Webcast, a panel of thought leaders assembled by The Knowledge Group will analyze the green bond market and the response of investors and traders to their growing proliferation. The agenda will include discussion of transparency and accountability standards set by the Climate Bonds Initiative, along with other regulatory efforts, and the potential effect of the Trump Administration’s low priority for environmental protection.
Key Topics Include:
- Green Bond Principles
- Paris Climate Agreement (COP21)
- Chinese Market Initiatives
- Regulatory Schemes
- Investor Assessment Methodologies
- Effect on Environmental Policies
