PDI Capital Structure Forum 2018

October 16, 2018

Dechert is proud to sponsor the Private Debt Investor Capital Structure Forum held from October 23 - 24, 2018, in London. Europe’s premier private debt event returns. Join global leaders to discuss the evolution of private lending, meet with leading investors, and evaluate fund offerings in Europe and beyond. Now in its 5th year, the event is designed with the industry, for the industry, with a view to overcome market challenges, educate new market participants and provides a platform to promote private debt to the wider financial market.

David Miles, Dechert Partner, will moderate a panel titled, "How Europe's lending landscape is shifting: A private debt perspective", which will discuss:

  • Where the real alternative lending opportunities are in 2018.
  • Large cap LBOs and acquisitions, and how private debt managers win these deals.
  • SME lending and market place solutions: sourcing, deploying and diligence.
  • Sponsored vs unsponsored lending strategies and the market disconnections they serve.
  • Regulatory and interest rate charges and how they will affect the market.

Harry Pangas, Dechert Partner, will moderate a panel titled "Keeping Up With Defining and Allocating to a Rapidly Evolving Asset Class," which will discuss:

  • Six years on from PDI's launch, definitions of private debt are still unclear. Are boundaries important?
  • What are the benefits and pitfalls of a more stringent definition?
  • How have institutional investors' understanding of debt as an asset class evolved and what impact has this had on commitments and GP strategies?

Monica Gogna and Mikhaelle Schiappacasse, Dechert Partners, will co-moderate a panel called "Preparing for a post-Brexit private debt market", which will discuss:

  • How will a looming Brexit deal impact the UK and European private debt market? Which investors and GPs should be most careful and in what way?
  • What other regulatory changes are expected to affect European private debt players: Basel III and AIFMD, EU NPL/credit servicers initiative.
  • A special relationship: how is trade between the UK and U.S. developing given the geopolitical environment and will this impact the private lending landscape in Europe?

Smridhi Gulati, Dechert associate, will lead a roundtable discussion titled "Sponsored lending vs unsponsored lending", which will cover:

  • Sponsored lending vs unsponsored lending
