Managing Work From Home
A Webinar Presented by Dechert’s Labor & Employment and Tax Teams
The COVID-19 pandemic has transformed the way people work in nearly every country around the world. Before the pandemic, employees were increasingly demanding and employers were allowing employees to work from home (WFH) (or any place other than an office). With the pandemic, many governments made it impossible for non-essential workers to go to their normal work site, and even when now permitted to do so, employees are not returning to the office. In fact, some employers have said that work from home arrangements will continue post-pandemic. Other employers are wondering how and when they can compel workers to return to the office. For many employers, managing work from home issues on this scale is a new and challenging proposition.
Please join us on October 6 for an hour-long webinar to learn more about the challenges of WFH in the United States, England and France, and get answers to the following questions:
- How do you monitor performance in a remote workforce?
- How can employers avoid the wage and hour problems associated with flexible work schedules and home workers?
- Who pays for the costs of employees working from home?
- Can you reduce an employee’s compensation because they are working from home and no longer have commuting or other costs associated with being in the office?
- Are employees entitled to work from home and what did the US EEOC recently say about WFH as an accommodation?
- What risks (tax and otherwise) do employers face when employees move their work site to a different city or country?
- When can you terminate work from home and require employees to return to the office?
