Executive Compensation Limits and Other Employee Provisions Under the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008

The Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 provides the Secretary of the Treasury with $700 billion to buy troubled assets held by financial institutions. The Act also places certain limits on “excessive” compensation for senior executives at companies selling troubled assets to the government. This update examines those limits and other employee benefit-related provisions under the Act.
