Department of Labor Issues Final Regulations on the Family Medical Leave Act

The Department of Labor recently published its long-awaited, final revised regulations for the Family and Medical Leave Act. The final regulations, which will become effective on January 16, 2009, are intended to provide clarity to employers and employees concerning their rights and obligations under the 15-year old law. The new rules also implement the recently enacted military leave legislation that provides additional leave rights to families of servicemembers.
