New Law Makes Compensation Discrimination Claims Easier to Pursue

President Obama yesterday signed into law the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009. The Act, which overturns longstanding Supreme Court precedent (including the 2007 decision Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.), addresses discrimination in compensation and benefits and allows employees to bring claims of discrimination many years after the relevant compensation or benefits decision was made by the employer.
