Model COBRA Subsidy Notice Issued by DOL

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act established a new COBRA premium subsidy for involuntarily terminated employees and required employers to provide notice of it to employees laid off in 2009 as well as to certain employees whose employment was already terminated. The Act also required the Department of Labor to develop model notices regarding the new subsidy. This update reviews the notices issued by the DOL and how they will affect employers and plan administrators.
