March 04, 2010
In a number of recent updates, Dechert lawyers have described a trend toward more aggressive enforcement of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (“FCPA”), and predicted that more of the same is yet to come. At the 2010 Global Ethics Summit hosted in New York by Dow Jones and Ethisphere, co-sponsored by Dechert, Mark F. Mendelsohn, Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division’s Fraud Section at the Department of Justice (DOJ), confirmed this trend. This update provides a detailed overview of Mendelsohn’s remarks concerning new developments in FCPA enforcement in 2009 as well as his predictions for the direction that FCPA enforcement and anti-corruption efforts will take in 2010, both in the United States and abroad.
