Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability, and Divestment Act of 2010 Signed Into Law

President Obama recently signed into law the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability, and Divestment Act of 2010 (CISADA), which is aimed at thwarting Iran’s efforts to obtain nuclear weapons capability and discouraging both U.S. and non-U.S. persons from providing material assistance to Iran’s energy sector. This update examines CISADA, including its numerous amendments to the Iran Sanctions Act, as well as the law’s implications for U.S. and non-U.S. energy and financial services firms.
