United Kingdom: The Localism Act 2011

The Localism Act 2011 makes major reforms to local government and planning law. It abolishes regional strategies, introduces a new system of neighbourhood planning driven by local referendums, places a moratorium on the disposal of certain community amenities, introduces a general power of competence for local authorities, and changes the rules on the Community Infrastructure Levy, compensation for compulsory purchase and assured shorthold tenancy deposits.
