New Executive Pay Proposals Outlined by UK Government

The UK Government recently announced new proposals on executive pay. The proposals cover four main areas: transparency; shareholder involvement; diversity of boards and remuneration committees; and best practice. This update examines the proposals, which include binding votes for shareholders on remuneration, allowing clawbacks of pay following underperformance and limiting potential conflicts of interest caused by individuals sitting on multiple remuneration committees.
