The European investment funds industry has grown to be a major player in capital markets and has significant potential for growth in the years ahead. The most common type of investment funds in Europe are known as undertakings for collective investment in transferable securities, or UCITS. These account for 75% of assets under management in the fund industry in Europe and a growing percentage of assets under management in the fund industry worldwide.
