
Russia’s Legal Climate: Another Perspective

While the 1998 Russian and 2008 global financial crises have prompted the Russian government to enact laws protecting shareholders’ and creditors’ rights and to make other reforms needed for economic growth, Russias pro-business efforts have gone largely unnoticed in the West. In an op-ed in The National Law Journal, Laura M. Brank, head of Dechert’s Russia practice and managing partner of Dechert’s Moscow office, examines changes to Russian laws affecting foreign investment and their positive impact on Russia’s business climate.
