The Financial Regulatory System in the UK: HM Treasury’s Latest Proposals

Government officials have been designing a new regulatory regime for the UK’s financial services industry, which is due to be in place by early 2013. The new strategy will take a more proactive and intrusive approach, based on proposals contained in a recent White Paper from HM Treasury and draft Parliamentary Bill. This update examines the latest proposals, on which comments have been invited by 8 September 2011.
