Amici Curiae Brief, --Standard Fire Ins. Co. v. Knowles, No. 11-1450 (U.S.)
November 05, 2012
Dechert’s amicus brief supported petitioners in this case, which presented the question whether a named class action plaintiff may successfully evade federal court jurisdiction by filing with his class action complaint a “stipulation” that attempts to limit the damages he seeks for the absent putative class members to less than the federal jurisdictional threshold of $5 million. Dechert attorneys G. Eric Brunstad, Jr. (counsel of record), Collin O’Connor Udell, and Matthew J. Delude filed the amicus curiae brief on behalf of Professors E. Donald Elliott and John J. Watkins.
