Tom Ainsworth focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation. Mr. Ainsworth is a Solicitor-Advocate (Higher Courts Civil) and has acted on a broad range of litigation, arbitration, and white collar matters for clients from a wide variety of different jurisdictions.

Prior to joining Dechert, Mr. Ainsworth trained and qualified at a magic circle law firm and worked in their London, Abu Dhabi and Dubai offices.

  • Airbus SE in a global investigation into allegations of fraud, bribery and corruption, and subsequent coordinated settlements with the UK Serious Fraud Office, French Parquet National Financier, U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Department of State.
  • Advising a forex broker and its directors in connection with several cross border disputes in the forex trading and technology sector in the London Commercial Court and Chancery Division. The disputes resulted in several interim applications, including for cross-examination, pre-action disclosure, Norwich Pharmacal relief, and a worldwide freezing injunction.
  • Acting for a large European financial institution in the London Commercial Court in a claim for over € 25 million. 
  • Acting for a commodity trading and logistics company in its successful application for a worldwide freezing injunction before the High Court of Hong Kong in support of an LCIA arbitration claim in fraud for US$ 40 million. 
  • Advising one of the world's largest marine terminal operators on its defense to a US$ 50 million unlawful conspiracy claim in litigation before the Dubai World Tribunal.
  • Acting for a sovereign wealth fund and its CEO in libel proceedings against a leading financial news organisation.
  • Advising a European investment bank subject to a regulatory investigation concerning the conduct of its private client department in Dubai.
  • Acting for an asset management firm in legal proceedings in the Cayman Islands against a sovereign wealth fund.
  • Advising an investment banker subject to an FCA investigation into his role on various capital raisings in London.
  • Acting for the respondent in a DIAC arbitration concerning the wrongful termination of a hotel management agreement between a Dubai hotel owner and an Asian hotel management company.
  • Advising a major South Korean company in respect of an adjudication concerning a landmark construction and engineering project in Dubai.
