Yasmin Abusaif focuses her practice on global finance and real estate matters, including areas of commercial real estate finance, representation of financial institutions in the origination of mortgage and mezzanine loans, and purchase, sale, financing and servicing of single-family rental portfolios. Ms. Abusaif is also involved in prisoner rights and civil rights pro bono matters

Prior to Dechert, Ms. Abusaif carried out an internship with the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office. Ms. Abusaif also externed at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania under Judge Cynthia Rufe.

    • Prisoner rights law - Worked on two class action lawsuits aimed at limiting the use of solitary confinement in Pennsylvania prisons.
    • Human rights law ­– Worked with the National Women’s Law Center to put together a compilation of state human rights laws.
    • Immigration law - Prepared a successful application for naturalization with Esperanza Immigration Legal Services
    • Voting rights ­– Worked on a voting rights research project for LatinoJustice; worked with Civic Nation Action to provide election protection advice to Michigan residents.
