Chloe-Jane Belton has built an established reputation in defending and prosecuting both corporate and individual clients facing complex and serious criminal litigation. She regularly acts across a range of serious and organized crime cases, including a high-profile multi-jurisdictional money laundering case.

Ms. Belton was part of the team awarded “Investigation Team of the Year” at the C5 Women in Compliance Awards in March 2020. Prior to joining Dechert, Ms. Belton was an independent barrister acting for defendants and prosecuting in high-profile cases brought before the criminal courts, regulatory tribunals and the Court of Appeal. She has experience in matters involving serious fraud and financial regulatory matters related to the Serious Fraud Office, previously acting as civil litigation privilege counsel in the Serious Fraud Office Bribery and Corruption Unit.

  • A multi-million pound local authority prosecution brought to date, involving hundreds of alleged historical council benefit fraudsters and the associated "in house" staff conspirators.
  • A large-scale investigation into in house bribery and corruption at a local authority.
