Ryan Banks represents clients in a variety of intellectual property and commercial matters, focusing primarily on litigating patent infringement and licensing agreement claims.  He has in-depth technological experience in diverse electrical and mechanical fields, including: telecommunications, computer architecture, consumer electronics, and mechanical devices.  He has experience in all phases of litigation, including factual investigation, drafting complaints, preparing motions and declarations, discovery, Markman briefing, working with experts and expert testimony, taking fact and expert depositions and pre- and post-trial briefing.

Mr. Banks also maintains an active pro bono practice, working with nonprofit organizations in California to protect voter rights for underrepresented communities.

  • Microsoft Corp. v. Hon Hai Precision Industry Co, LTD. (N.D. Cal.).  Represent Microsoft in breach of contract action arising from unpaid royalties owed based on patent license agreement.  Case is ongoing.
  • Intellectual Ventures I LLC v. T-Mobile USA, Inc., et al. (E.D. Tex.).  Represented Intellectual Ventures in patent infringement action related to wireless LTE technology.  Following jury trial, all patents asserted by Intellectual Ventures were found valid and infringed.
  • Music Choice v. Stingray Digital Inc., et al. (E.D. Tex.).  Represent Music Choice in patent infringement action related to cable music channels and cable music on demand technology.  Case is ongoing.
