Jago Chanter focuses his practice on international arbitration.

Prior to joining Dechert, Mr. Chanter worked at two leading London law firms, where he concentrated on international litigation and competition law, and completed two secondments to international banks. Mr. Chanter has acted as counsel in disputes for a wide range of clients, including state entities, financial institutions, private equity firms, tech start-ups, and major corporates.

  • An international arbitration concerning an Asian state entity in connection with a US$2 billion dispute, arising from military procurement contracts and the payment of illicit commissions.
  • English High Court litigation concerning a major Russian bank which was the victim of a US$150 million securities fraud. This involved worldwide freezing orders and ancillary criminal proceedings.
  • A commercial dispute between telecom companies in connection with satellites.
  • 'Follow-on’ competition law litigation in relation to copper tubes, water and interchange fees.
  • Internal investigations at a major UK bank.
  • Personal bankruptcy proceedings in which a national asset manager intervened.
