Shilun Chen focuses his practice on international arbitration and complex commercial litigation. Mr. Chen has experience representing clients involving the energy, oil and gas, mining, construction and credit securities sectors. In particular, he has represented clients in complex disputes dealing with the setting aside and enforcement of arbitral awards before the Singapore Courts. Mr. Chen has also frequently advised clients on arbitration strategy and merits of a potential arbitration. 

Prior to joining Dechert, Mr. Chen completed his training in the commercial litigation and arbitration practices at one of Singapore’s leading litigation firms. 

  • A South East Asian state in relation to a dispute on corporate governance to wrest control of assets worth over US$1.5 billion before the Singapore Courts.
  • A Macanese investor in relation to the enforcement of a SIAC award of over US$200 million before the Singapore Courts.
  • A Chinese state-owned enterprise in relation to a dispute of over US$850 million arising out of fraudulent crude oil transactions.
  • An Indian state-owned energy company in relation to the recovery of debts of over US$1.4 billion from an insolvent Singapore company.
  • A Singapore securities company in relation to a dispute over a credit facility of over HKD$600 million.
  • An Asian electoral candidate against a football federation in relation to a dispute on discrimination and interference in football elections before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
