Thomas Cordova focuses his practice on representing corporations and their executives, directors and employees in government and internal investigations, complex civil and criminal cases. He represents clients in cases brought by federal and local agencies, including the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission. He conducts cross-border internal investigations for Fortune 500 companies related to alleged fraud, insider trading, violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and the False Claims Act. 

Over his career, Mr. Cordova has handled all aspects of litigation strategy from discovery and case workup, to motion practice, to trial.  He has experience developing expert witnesses and preparing company witnesses for depositions. In his pro bono practice, Mr. Cordova has successfully represented plaintiffs at trial in the Tenth Circuit litigation challenging Kansas’ voter registration laws. 

Mr. Cordova was a Dechert summer associate in 2013 and 2014.

  • Represented various individuals and businesses in SEC, DOJ, and CFTC investigations involving public corruption, securities fraud, money laundering and other offenses.
  • Represented various multinational companies in connection with class action products liability litigation and multiple related criminal and regulatory investigations. 
  • Represented mulitple bond traders in investigations regarding alleged misrepresentations and market manipulation.
  • Assisted the Special Master appointed by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York for the purpose of resolving disputes about distributions from a US$2 billion fund established to compensate victims of Iranian-sponsored terrorism and their families. 
  • Represented a multinational real estate developer in connected with an international investigation.
