Janet Bollinger Doherty has experience representing Chapter 11 debtor-in-possessions and Chapter 7 liquidating debtors. Additionally, she represents creditors, both secured and unsecured, in all types of bankruptcy and restructuring matters.

In 2016, Ms. Doherty was a member of the team awarded the “Chapter 11 Reorganization of the Year (US$1 billion – US$5 billion)” at The M&A Advisor’s 11th Annual Turnaround Awards for its representation of RCS Capital. The restructuring of RCS Capital was also selected by Beard Group’s Turnarounds & Workouts in its annual “Successful Restructurings” round-up for 2016.

Ms. Doherty was a Dechert summer associate in 2007.

  • Counsel to certain noteholders of Logan’s Roadhouse Inc. and Bank of Oklahoma as trustee under the 2010 notes indenture, in connection with a Chapter 11 restructuring of Logan’s Roadhouse and certain of its affiliates in all aspects of the bankruptcy.
  • Chapter 11 counsel to RCS Capital Corp. and its affiliates, one of the largest independent financial advisor networks in the U.S. with over US$220 billion in assets under the management.
  • Chapter 11 counsel to MModal, Inc. and its affiliates, a leading provider of clinical documentation and speech understanding solutions.
  • Chapter 11 counsel to Constar International Holdings and its affiliates, a producer of PET plastic containers.
  • Chapter 11 counsel to Velo Holdings Inc. and its affiliates, a direct marketing servicing company.Counsel to indenture trustee in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy of American Airlines.
  • Counsel to the ad hoc committee of first lien lenders holding US$238 million of debt in connection with the prepackaged Chapter 11 cases of Satélites Mexicanos, S.A. de C.V., a leading satellite service provider in Latin America, which provided for the payment in full of all first lien claims.
  • In connection with the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy, counsel to various hedge funds, money market funds, financial institutions and others with respect to hundreds of millions of dollars of exposure to various Lehman entities in connection with swaps, repurchase agreements, unsettled trades, prime broker agreements, customer accounts, bonds and various hybrid instruments issued by Lehman entities.
  • Chapter 11 counsel to Arclin US Holdings Inc. and its affiliates, which manufacture adhesive resins and overlay products utilized in construction, furniture, industrial and automotive applications.
  • Counsel to preferred shareholders and certain directors in connection with the Chapter 11 bankruptcy of Extended Stay Hotels and the related adversary proceedings.
  • Counsel to senior secured noteholders in the out of court financial restructuring of Cleveland Unlimited, a company providing wireless communication services in Ohio and Indiana.
  • Counsel to indenture trustee and certificate holders with respect to a leveraged lease in the Chapter 11 cases of NewPage Corporation, a producer of coated paper products.
