Tarek El Erian focuses his practice on corporate and securities matters, including mergers and acquisitions and assisting on a range of domestic and international transactions.

Prior to joining Dechert, Mr. El Erian served as an Associate in the corporate and securities group of a leading Egyptian law firm in Cairo, where he counseled Egyptian and international companies on mergers and acquisitions as well as corporate, reorganizations, and transactional matters.

  • Griffon Corporation, a publically traded diversified holding company, in its US$200 million acquisition of ClosetMaid Corporation, a market leader of home storage and organization products, from Emerson Electric Co. 
  • A leading Private Equity Firm in its US$435 million sale of a provider of aftermarket maintenance, repair and replacement services for commercial HVAC equipment. 
  • A group of lenders in the origination of two mortgage loans in the combined principal amount of US$2.475 billion, secured by two portfolios totaling 145 assets throughout the US. 
  • SK hynix Inc., as a member of the consortium, in the two trillion yen (approx. US$18 billion) acquisition of Japan-based Toshiba Corporation’s NAND flash memory and solid-state drive business.
  • GIC, the sovereign wealth fund of Singapore, in its role in the acquisition by a Blackstone-led consortium of a majority stake in Refinitiv (f/k/a Thomson Reuters’ Financial & Risk business). The total investment is valued at US$17 billion and was noted by Mergermarket and Law360 as “the largest private equity deal signed during the first six months of 2018.”
