Antonio Gordillo Fernández de Villavicencio focuses his practice on international arbitration.

Prior to joining Dechert, Mr. Gordillo Fernández de Villavicencio served as deputy counsel in the Latin American/Iberian team at the ICC International Court of Arbitration, where he administered more than 70 cases from various industrial sectors. He also previously worked at a leading law firm in Seville, Spain, and interned at leading international arbitration boutiques in Madrid and Paris.

Mr. Gordillo has also acted as administrative secretary to arbitral tribunals in ICC, CAM, and CIMA arbitration proceedings. Furthermore, Mr. Gordillo is “Asistente Honorario” of the Universidad de Sevilla, where he has been lecturing on Introduction to International Arbitration, in the postgraduated Master’s programme on the Practice of Law, since 2013.

He is noted by The Legal 500 Latin America 2018 and he is the co-author of the book "40 under 40 International Arbitration (2018)" published by Kluwer Arbitration.

  • A group of Costa Rican and Dutch investors against a Central American State in an ICSID arbitration arising from the construction and development of an ecotourist resort.
  • A South American State in an ICSID investment dispute with a major foreign oil company.
  • A South American State in an ad-hoc PCA-UNCITRAL arbitration arising from the concession of the three international airports in the country. 
  • The port authority of a South American State in a commercial arbitration against a Chinese company in a dispute related to a concession contract for a maritime port.
  • A group of cement producing companies in an ICC arbitration involving a shareholder’s dispute relating to the construction of a major cement producing facility in South America.
  • A group of construction companies from Eastern Europe in an ICC arbitration with a construction company from Western Europe relating to a speedway project.
  • A major Spanish oil and gas company in a commercial dispute against a UAE company arising out of an alleged service contracts in the North-African area.
  • Colombian investors against a South American State in an ICSID arbitration arising from the operation of bus concessions in a public transportation system.
