Colleen Hespeler is an associate in Dechert’s cybersecurity & privacy practice group. Ms. Hespeler focuses her practice on the intersection of privacy, security and data management and she helps to guide companies of all sizes through the existing patchwork of laws, self-regulatory standards and industry practices impacting data privacy and security. Her practice includes advising clients on proposed and effective federal and state privacy and cybersecurity laws, such as the CCPA, biometric privacy laws, COPPA, GLBA, FERPA, TCPA, CAN-SPAM and state breach notification laws. Ms. Hespeler also advises clients on the impact of international laws from a U.S. perspective, including GDPR. A portion of Ms. Hespeler’s practice involves helping clients prepare for privacy and security breaches and leading an immediate response in the event of an incident, successfully guiding clients through investigation, remediation, notification and ensuing government inquiries.
In addition, Ms. Hespeler has extensive experience assisting clients in the financial services industry with their compliance obligations under the SEC's privacy regulations, as well as the privacy regulations of other federal and state financial regulators. During law school, she worked as an intern at the SEC’s DC headquarters.
