Daphne Ha focuses her practice on litigation matters and is a member of Dechert’s International and Insolvency Litigation group. She represents clients facing investigations and litigation against government agencies, federal regulators, sovereigns and private persons. She focuses on all aspects of commercial litigation in state and federal trials and appeals, and has experience in a wide range of subject areas, including commercial, securities, criminal and bankruptcy law.

Ms. Ha was a member of the Dechert litigation team recognized as part of the Financial Times’ 2014 Top 40 North American Innovative Law Firms for their representation of Argentina’s two largest creditors – with combined claims for over US$3 billion – in multi-national litigation and judgment enforcement proceedings. In 2016, Dechert was awarded the Grand Prize for Global Dispute of the Year by The American Lawyer for the Argentina debt default litigation and settlement.

In her pro bono practice, Ms. Ha represents plaintiffs in challenging Kansas’s voter registration laws and an indigent death row inmate in his post-conviction petition for relief. She is also involved in a Dechert program that provides legal advice to litigants in family court throughout New York City. She was honored by The Legal Aid Society as a recipient of the Society’s 2016 Pro Bono Publico Awards in connection with her representation of a low-income New Yorker in a First Department appeal of his criminal conviction.

Ms. Ha earned her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 2012, where she was a member of the Fordham Law Review and served as Mentor Editor on the Fordham Moot Court Board. As Mentor Editor, she ran the 2011 New York Metropolitan High School Mentor Moot Court Competition in which more than 40 New York City high schools participated. Prior to earning her law degree, she worked in the Intake Bureau of the Queens County District Attorney’s Office and earned a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology.

Ms. Ha is currently serving as co-chair of the Career Placement Committee of the Asian American Bar Association of New York.

Ms. Ha was a Dechert summer associate in 2011.
