Nathan Hoffman is a trial lawyer with extensive experience in state, federal and multi-district litigation concerning product liability, consumer fraud class actions, antitrust, and white collar criminal defense matters. He has particular expertise in handling matters for clients in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, food and beverage and consumer products industries.

Mr. Hoffman has argued critical motions and appeals before both state and federal courts, including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and has significant experience cross-examining expert witnesses on liability and medical causation issues in Daubert hearings.

In 2014, Mr. Hoffman was recognized by The Legal 500 US for his product liability and mass tort defense practice in the areas of consumer products, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, and toxic tort.

Prior to joining Dechert, Mr. Hoffman was a partner in the Chicago office of another international law firm.

  • In re Prempro Products Liability Litigation: Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Pfizer, in several successful jury trials regarding product liability and fraud claims in both state and federal courts.
  • U.S. Department of Justice vs. Microsoft Corporation: Microsoft in a favorable ruling in the remedies phase of a high-profile antitrust lawsuit.
  • Roquette v. A.E. Staley, Tate & Lyle plc et al.: Tate & Lyle plc, a UK company, and its U.S. domestic subsidiary against claims of trade secret misappropriation, RICO and Lanham Act violations filed in Iowa and New York by French company Roquette Freres and its U.S. subsidiary.
  • In re High Fructose Corn Syrup Antitrust Litigation: A.E. Staley Manufacturing in securing a successful settlement in a nationwide antitrust class action alleging that Staley and its co-defendants conspired to fix the price of high-fructose corn syrup.
  • A leading cell phone manufacturer in an internal investigation of theft and trade secret misappropriation regarding high-value prototype smartphones.
  • Defending a nationally recognized sports equipment manufacturer in head-injury litigation regarding claims of product liability and design defect.
  • A physician in a criminal matter regarding federal Anti-Kickback Statute and health care fraud claims.
