Meghan Rohling Kelly is a trial lawyer and litigation partner who tries cases across the country. For example, Ms. Kelly recently served as trial counsel for Union Carbide Corporation in a four-week jury trial in Saratoga Springs, New York. In that case, plaintiffs alleged that exposure to products containing Union Carbide’s asbestos caused the death of a 42-year-old mother of three young children and sought more than US$20 million in damages. In January 2017, the jury returned a complete defense verdict, exonerating Union Carbide of any wrongdoing. Ms. Kelly served as trial counsel for Union Carbide Corporation in a six-week jury trial in Manhattan in 2016 in which the jury also returned a full defense verdict. Ms. Kelly also represented Union Carbide in a two month jury trial in Oakland, California in which she helped defeat plaintiffs’ US$100 million claims.

Ms. Kelly routinely acts as litigation and trial counsel for chemical, pharmaceutical, automotive, manufacturing and food companies in their most important products liability, mass tort and environmental cases. As a result of her expertise in this area, The Legal 500 US recognized Ms. Kelly for her product liability and mass tort defense work. Recently, Ms. Kelly was named by The Philadelphia Business Journal to the 40 under 40 class of 2017 and was recognized by The Legal Intelligencer as a “Lawyer on the Fast Track.”

Ms. Kelly maintains an active pro bono practice, including appearing as a court-appointed attorney for dependent children and representing prisoners in Section 1983 civil rights cases. The National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Foundation for Criminal Justice recognized Ms. Kelly for her pro bono work and she was named to the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania’s Pro Bono Roll of Honor.
