Benjamin F. McAnaney focuses his practice on antitrust/competition law, representing and advising clients from a range of industries in all aspects of litigation from initial case analysis to trial, settlement, or appeal. Mr. McAnaney also has extensive complex commercial litigation experience, and has represented multinational corporations in products liability matters, commercial contract disputes, international asset seizures with ICSID arbitration, insurance recovery, and qui tam actions.

In addition to his litigation work, Mr. McAnaney maintains an active pro bono practice assisting individuals with criminal appeals, INS deportation appeals, and matters pertaining to identity theft.

Prior to joining Dechert, Mr. McAnaney served as a senior associate in the antitrust and litigation group of a leading national law firm. His previous experience also includes working as counsel for an entertainment and production company, where he counseled entertainment start-ups and represented clients in all aspects of business development.

Experience
  • A leading gypsum wallboard manufacturer in the defense of antitrust suits filed by direct, indirect and opt-out purchasers.
  • A pharmacy benefits manager against putative class action claims asserted under §1 of the Sherman Act based on alleged conspiracies with other pharmacy benefits managers and with their respective clients to depress the prices paid to independent retail pharmacies for filling prescriptions.
  • A multinational consumer goods company in state and federal products liability cases alleging neurological injuries from the use of dental products.
  • An European telecommunications company in ICSID arbitration against a foreign government following the seizure and nationalization of private property.
  • A member of the United States House of Representatives in an ethics committee investigation.
