Rajat Rana is a dual-qualified attorney with trial and arbitration experience in the United States. Mr. Rana's practice focuses on representing clients in transnational disputes and international arbitrations.

Prior to joining Dechert, Mr. Rana served as an international arbitration and litigation associate at other international law firms in New York and Washington, D.C., where he worked on bet-the-company complex commercial litigation and international arbitration matters. He has served as a law clerk to Judge Seon Ki Park at the UN International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and Justice C.K. Thakker of the Supreme Court of India. Mr. Rana also worked on Radovan Karadzic’s defense team at the UN International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia.

  • A large Indian textile company in a multimillion dollar investment treaty claims against the Republic of Uzbekistan.
  • An Asian real estate company against Whitehall (Goldman Sachs) and Hines in a US$1.4 billion arbitration dispute in the United States, achieving a favorable settlement.
  • A Kuwaiti oil company in an international civil litigation in New York.
  • Kim Dotcom and Megaupload Limited, one of the world’s largest online cloud storage services, in the U.S. Department of Justice’s civil forfeiture of Kim’s assets.
  • IMS Health Incorporated, a leading provider of information, services, and technology in the health care field, against claims of monopolization and attempted monopolization brought by one of its competitors.
  • The Federal Housing Finance Agency, in landmark RMBS litigation under the federal and state securities laws against Bank of America and a leading global financial services firm.
  • Monoline MBIA against Bank of America and Countrywide Home Loans in litigation arising from financial insurance covering over US$21 billion of RMBS securitizations.
