Allie R. Strauss is an associate in Dechert’s Global Finance Practice. Ms. Strauss focuses her practice on commercial real estate transactions involving the origination, acquisition, syndication and disposition of mortgage loans, mezzanine financings and subordinate debt. Ms. Strauss also has experience with post-closing modifications and loan sales and purchases, as well as acquisitions and dispositions of commercial properties, commercial leasing and joint venture investments. She has represented a number of investment banks, life insurance companies, institutional investors and real estate developers.

Ms. Strauss maintains an active pro bono practice, including a recent representation of a female veteran in appealing for the review of her administrative discharge from the United States Army, through the Lawyers Serving Warriors® project with the National Veterans Legal Services Program.

Prior to joining Dechert, Ms. Strauss worked as an associate in the real estate practice group of another international law firm. 

  • An investment firm in the origination of US$247.6 million mortgage and US$43.7 million mezzanine debt to finance the acquisition and renovation of a luxury hotel in Manhattan.
  • A life insurance company in the origination of an approximately US$200 million mortgage loan secured by a portfolio of 56 industrial properties in several major metropolitan areas across the United States. The transaction was structured with a master lease to accommodate Shariah-compliant investors.
  • An investment bank in the origination of a US$78 million mortgage and US$65 million mezzanine loan, to finance the acquisition of both fee and leasehold interests in a large office building in Denver, Colorado. 
  • A financial institution in the origination of a US$32 million CMBS refinance of a ground lease interest in a New York City apartment building.
