
Barbara J. Shachnow, a partner in Dechert’s global finance group, focuses her practice on commercial real estate finance. Her experience includes complex capital markets, portfolio and syndicated mortgage and mezzanine loans; co-lender, syndication, participation and intercreditor arrangements; construction lending; preferred equity transactions; joint venture transactions; and loan sales, including portfolio sale transactions and negotiation of purchase agreements. Ms. Shachnow regularly represents a collection of traditional and non-bank lenders, including advising real estate private equity funds in connection with mezzanine loan originations, loan participations and co-lender arrangements involving office, retail, multifamily and hotel assets.
In addition, Ms. Shachnow has experience advising on the workouts and restructurings of troubled mortgage and mezzanine financings, including defaulted construction loans, as well as pre-negotiation agreements and deed-in-lieu agreements.
