Donald V. Scaltrito, Ph.D., is a patent agent in the Patent Counseling and Prosecution practice of Dechert’s intellectual property group. Dr. Scaltrito has extensive experience preparing and prosecuting domestic and international patent applications for high-technology clients across a diverse range of chemistry including pharmaceuticals, polymers, cosmetics, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry and small molecules, nanomaterials, renewable energy, and semiconductors. He regularly conducts infringement, freedom to operate, patentability and validity searches for pharmaceuticals and small molecules. In addition, Dr. Scaltrito provides technical support for pharmaceutical litigations, post-grant proceedings, interferences and due diligence projects.

Prior to joining Dechert, Dr. Scaltrito served as a patent agent and scientific advisor at various intellectual property law firms in Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. Dr. Scaltrito was also a patent examiner for the United States Patent and Trademark Office in the battery and fuel cell arts.
