Mr. Tolan is a member of the Committee on Character and Fitness, Appellate Division, First Department, and served as a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York on both the Committee on State Courts of Superior Jurisdiction (1971-74) and the Committee on Federal Courts (1979-82; 1993-96).

Mr. Tolan was president of the Fordham Law Alumni Association from 1986 to 1990 and has been a director since 1969. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He has authored, among others, an article titled “The Legal Liability of Security Analysts.”
