Hafez Virjee focuses his practice on international dispute resolution and legal risk management. Mr. Virjee has acted as counsel in international arbitrations for a wide range of clients, including State entities, tech start-ups, treaty organisations, private equity firms and listed companies. Mr. Virjee has managed cross-border disputes for his clients in numerous sectors, such as telecommunications, finance, energy, mining, pharmaceutical, transport, construction and military.

In 2018, he was listed among the Future Leaders of Arbitration by The International Who's Who Legal.

Mr. Virjee co-founded and is the President of Delos Dispute Resolution, an independent arbitration institution that helps to reduce risk for businesses globally, by promoting time and cost efficiency in the resolution of disputes through arbitration.

Mr. Virjee also serves as an arbitrator and as a mediator.

  • Counsel to Asian State entities in connection with ICC arbitrations exceeding US$1 billion arising from military procurement contracts and the payment of illicit commissions.
  • Counsel to a leading European telecom company in an ICC arbitration arising out of a non-exclusive agency agreement.
  • Counsel to a French private equity firm in a post-acquisition dispute in excess of US$100 million under the rules of the German Institute of Arbitration (DIS).
  • Counsel to a Middle Eastern company in an ICC arbitration arising out of an acquisition that had not completed.
  • Counsel for a Kazakh company against a listed South Korean company in an ICC arbitration in excess of US$100 million arising out of an oil and gas project in Kazakhstan.
  • Counsel for the Saudi affiliate of an Asian construction company against its Middle Eastern subcontractor in an ICC arbitration arising from the construction of a large energy research centre in the Middle East.
