NEW YORK, June 28, 2018 -- Dechert LLP continues to expand its intellectual property (IP) litigation and life sciences capabilities with the addition of partner Noah M. Leibowitz in its New York office. Leveraging his experience with cases involving scientific, technical and medical expertise, his practice will focus on IP and complex litigation, particularly in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare and high-tech sectors.

Mr. Leibowitz has significant experience leading trial teams as first chair counsel in patent jury trials. He has represented innovator pharmaceutical companies in Hatch-Waxman litigation, as well as pay-for-delay antitrust cases, and international arbitrations over failed licensing and drug development deals. In addition, he provides advice on patent licensing, merger and acquisition transactions, and securities offerings. He has taken part in over 100 consummated or contemplated transactions and offerings for leading, innovative technology and life sciences companies.

“Noah’s experience and forward-thinking approach to the IP and life sciences spaces will be of great benefit to Dechert clients as we tackle the most sophisticated and ever-changing IP issues,” said Jeffrey Plies, chair of Dechert’s intellectual property practice.

Martin J. Black, leader of Dechert’s IP litigation team, noted "We are thrilled to have Noah on board to lead our New York IP litigation practice. He is critical to our mission – building the best integrated life sciences practice in the business."

Mr. Leibowitz added, “Dechert has assembled a fantastic team of IP litigators and counsellors and is at the forefront of providing ground-breaking solutions to its clients across the globe. I am excited to join the team.”

Mr. Leibowitz’s addition stands as the cornerstone of Dechert’s prominent IP practice which recently saw the arrivals of Chad E. Davis, Ph.D. and Katherine A. (“Kassie”) Helm, Ph.D. who joined in Boston and New York, respectively, as partners

Dechert’s IP lawyers have extensive experience representing clients in both defensive and enforcement IP litigation, including assisting companies with protecting, monetizing and extracting value from their IP portfolios and managing strategic worldwide licensing campaigns.

Mr. Leibowitz received his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a James Kent Scholar and Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and his A.B., magna cum laude, from Columbia University.
