Sheila Birnbaum Wins Award for Excellence in Ethics in Complex Litigation

Sheila Birnbaum, co-chair of Dechert’s product liability and mass torts practice, was the recipient of the 2023 Defendant Award for Excellence in Ethics in Complex Litigation from the Center for Litigation and Courts at the U.C. College of Law S.F. Winners of the award must demonstrate excellence in promoting ethics in class actions or other complex litigation.

Ms. Birnbaum has shaped the development of product liability litigation for decades, serving as national counsel or lead defense counsel for numerous Fortune 500 companies in some of the largest and most complex tort cases in the United States.

Ms. Birnbaum is regularly honored for professional excellence. Recently named a “Mass Tort Litigation Trailblazer” by the National Law Journal, she has also been recognized by Fortune as one of the 50 most powerful women in American business, named a “star individual” in product liability by Chambers USA, and acclaimed by Crain’s New York Business as one of the 25 most influential women in New York business.
